Discover the spirit of the river and its importance to those who have lived along its banks through the ages. Explore history\, folklore and the current challenges facing the health of our rivers. \nTributaries promises to be a rich theatrical event\, with music\, poetry\, Greek choruses\, a giant and a kelpie! \nOutdoor seating (chairs provided). Come dressed for the weather (no umbrellas or dogs please). \nA collaboration with the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust’s Rivers4Life project\, supported by Dales Countryside Museum & Ripon Workhouse Museum. DESCRIPTION:Formed to celebrate the 1100 anniversary of Ripon’s City Charter\, the Wakeman Mummers are celebrating their 40th anniversary in 2026. SUMMARY:Morris Dance from 400 Roses & Slubbing Billy's
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2005\, the 400 Roses are a unique dance troupe\, that combine Tribal Belly Dance with UK-style Folk and Morris Dance. \nThe Black\, Red and White themed costumes use an abundance of red and white silk roses to represent our Yorkshire and Lancashire origins. \nThe group is based in and practice in Shipley\, West Yorkshire. \nSlubbing Billy’s is a mixed Morris side dancing in the North West style. They dance in clogs and bowler hats decorated with fresh flowers. A large bass drum keeps them in time and their musicians play traditional folk dance tunes. DESCRIPTION:Florence Glen \nFlo is a singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist\, producer and teacher based in Ripon. After completing a Masters degree in Music Production at Leeds Beckett University and went on to record her first studio EP after winning the ‘Soundtrack your Roadtrip’ songwriting competition. Florence has since produced and recorded her own studio album which has been played on BBC Radio 6 Music.\nIn 2021 Florence founded Beats by Girlz UK CIC to teach women and other under-represented groups music production and digital skills. SUMMARY:Morris Dance from 400 Roses & Slubbing Billy's
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2005\, the 400 Roses are a unique dance troupe\, that combine Tribal Belly Dance with UK-style Folk and Morris Dance. \nThe Black\, Red and White themed costumes use an abundance of red and white silk roses to represent our Yorkshire and Lancashire origins. \nThe group is based in and practice in Shipley\, West Yorkshire. \nSlubbing Billy’s is a mixed Morris side dancing in the North West style. They dance in clogs and bowler hats decorated with fresh flowers. A large bass drum keeps them in time and their musicians play traditional folk dance tunes.
