DESCRIPTION:Walkabout acts\, crazy characters\, circus and clowning bring the streets and open spaces of Ripon to life throughout the day. \nProfessional acts come together with community performers including Ripon City Morris Dancers\, the All for One Choir and Ripon Youth Theatre. \nPerformances will be staged at Ripon Market Place\, Minster Gardens (in front of the Courthouse Museum)\, in Ripon Arcade and linking streets around the city. Watch out for giant dodos\, juggling pirates\, pesky dragons and masked old ladies mingling with comic escapologists and a man inside a giant balloon! \nAll events are free. Much larger than their extinct cousins and able to fly (sort of)\, Charles and Amelia\, two relics of a bygone era\, are very excited to be travelling the world to see what they’ve been missing. \n10am-4pm Ripon City Centre \n\nThe Crimplene Crusaders\n \nThese octogenarian upholders of moral values will be out and about with one thing on their minds: to keep standards high. Our twin-set clad campaigners will keep a firm eye out for any slouching\, flirting\, or hand-holding\, making sure that good old-fashioned values are championed. \n10am-4pm Ripon City Centre \n\nThe Maniax\n \nTwice winners of the prestigious ‘Street Show of The Year’ award this hilarious\, spectacular comedy performance has been performed all over the world. Based on an amazing Houdini style escape the show is packed with stunts\, illusions and great comic routines. \n11am Market Place \n2pm Market Place \n\nNever too Old\n \nA long-suffering Grandpa and a stubborn Grandma battle it out for your attention and affections. This Yorkshire couple have certainly been around for decades\, but they’re no strangers to the 21st century. They’re feisty\, they’re mobile (well\, just about…) and they’re connected (they know what social media is… and they’re not afraid to use it!) Living proof that you’re never too old to do anything… \n10am-4pm Ripon City Centre \n\nThe Great Mandavi\n \nDescribed as “eccentric”\, “hilarious” and “charming”\, this act is a firm favourite at festivals across the UK. Too busy performing at Glastonbury to join us 2022\, he has cleared his schedules to bring unicycling\, juggling and antics to Ripon. Don’t miss him this year! \n10am Market Place \n1pm Minster Gardens \n3pm Market Place \n\nThe (Little) Hazelsong Dragons\n \nCute or scary? You decide. Hazelsong Theatre bring their newest dragon creations to the streets of Ripon. Mobile\, curious and persistent\, you’d better watch out – they could be anywhere! \n10am-4pm Ripon City Centre \n\nThe Giant Balloon Show\n \nThe Giant Balloon Show will have the audience in stitches and in awe simultaneously. Expect feverous balloon sculptures\, high energy comic performance and of course the all-important giant balloon! DESCRIPTION:The Festival teams up with Little Bird Artisan Markets to bring you colourful characters\, music and puppetry throughout the day. \nWatch out for the Have-a-Go Pirates\, Monsieur Monsieur the Mime Artist and characters from Alice in Wonderland mingling with buskers and community performers. \nHighlights of the day include tricycle-pulled puppet shows from Thingumajig Theatre and the Rock Choir. \nLots of free entertainment whilst you browse the curated stalls from independent traders across the region. \nThe running order for the Market Place Zone is: \n\n\n\n9.30am-10.30am\nPuppets for Breakfast (The Unicorn)\n\n\n10am-10.30am\nRock Choir\n\n\n10.30am-11am\nMonsieur Monsieur\n\n\n11am-12noon\nA La Puppet Carte\nStumbling Over Eden (Claro Lounge)\n\n\n12noon-12.30pm\nHave-a-Go Pirates\nTrinity Singers\n\n\n12.30pm-1pm\nLily Worth\n\n\n1pm-1.30pm\nWonderland characters\n\n\n1.30pm-2pm\nHave-a-Go Pirates\n\n\n2pm-2.30pm\nPassion for Movement Dancers\n\n\n2.30pm-3pm\nSteve Bonham\n\n\n\n\nHave A Go Pirates\n \nAlthough these pirates might look the part they haven’t really got that much experience pirating. Actually they haven’t got any\, but they’re trying really hard. \nAs they make their way through the crowded streets they practice their pillaging techniques\, although being so overly critical of their own performances they never actually manage to get any pillaging done. \nWith their ‘Practice Pirate Ship’ and their pirate wits about them all around will want to join in the banter and help them become the true pirates that deep down they know they are. \n\nA la Puppet Carte\n \nOn the menu is not one\, not two\, but three pop up puppet stages built onto the backs of electric tricycles. Each mobile stage is a show full of surprises\, fun and heart-warming stories of friendship and a sense of home. Stories include the Story of the Scary Noise and the Magic Samovar.
