SUMMARY:Morris Dance from 400 Roses & Slubbing Billy's
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2005\, the 400 Roses are a unique dance troupe\, that combine Tribal Belly Dance with UK-style Folk and Morris Dance. \nThe Black\, Red and White themed costumes use an abundance of red and white silk roses to represent our Yorkshire and Lancashire origins. \nThe group is based in and practice in Shipley\, West Yorkshire. \nSlubbing Billy’s is a mixed Morris side dancing in the North West style. They dance in clogs and bowler hats decorated with fresh flowers. A large bass drum keeps them in time and their musicians play traditional folk dance tunes. Our intrepid adventurers are just hours away from crossing the finish line\, if they can just coerce their hot air balloons to go in the right direction they stand to win a grand prize. \nFrom the makers of Baba Yaga’s House\, The Giant Balloon Show (a hit at RTF 2024)\, The Tiny Travelling Tightwire Show and Falconry Dismay comes a hilarious roam-about fusing modern technology and the classic adventure novel by Jules Verne. \nPresented by Dizzy O’Dare \nAbout the performers: \nFrom the weird to the wonderful\, the silly to the sublime. The company has produced over 20 shows and walkabouts\, toured extensively and delighting audiences across the globe. \nDizzy O’Dare was formed by Alana Jones and Michael Imerson. After meeting while filming one of Michael’s short films they started working together\, Alana as the only female pofessional tightwire dancer in the UK at the time and Michael as her guitarist.  This relationship soon led to the creation of ‘From the Inky Deep’ an ambitious circus show in 2009 for the Medway Fuse Festival and the company was born. \nAlana Jones gained a degree in Dance Theatre at Laban\, and then went on to gain a second degree in Circus Theatre at The Circus Space\, specialising in tightwire. \nFREE EVENT \n10-15am 10.45am Kirkgate \n12.00pm -12.30pm Market Place \n2.30pm – 3.00pm Kirkgate

Drawing inspiration from traditional Vaudeville and Variety acts\, they are known for their wordless performances that blend eccentric dance\, props\, and comedic storytelling. \nBased in Brighton\, Rudkin is a versatile theatre maker with a background in art and design. His career includes drumming\, puppetry\, and clown training with Philippe Gaulier. \nA seasoned performer and “dynamic speed painter\,” Hicks has appeared on television programmes like The Graham Norton Show. Drawing inspiration from traditional Vaudeville and Variety acts\, they are known for their wordless performances that blend eccentric dance\, props\, and comedic storytelling. \nBased in Brighton\, Rudkin is a versatile theatre maker with a background in art and design. His career includes drumming\, puppetry\, and clown training with Philippe Gaulier. \nA seasoned performer and “dynamic speed painter\,” Hicks has appeared on television programmes like The Graham Norton Show. SUMMARY:Morris Dance from 400 Roses & Slubbing Billy's
DESCRIPTION:Formed in 2005\, the 400 Roses are a unique dance troupe\, that combine Tribal Belly Dance with UK-style Folk and Morris Dance. \nThe Black\, Red and White themed costumes use an abundance of red and white silk roses to represent our Yorkshire and Lancashire origins. \nThe group is based in and practice in Shipley\, West Yorkshire. \nSlubbing Billy’s is a mixed Morris side dancing in the North West style. They dance in clogs and bowler hats decorated with fresh flowers. A large bass drum keeps them in time and their musicians play traditional folk dance tunes. DESCRIPTION:Thingumajig Theatre\, who have performed A la Puppet Carte and Kit and Caboodle (pictured below) at previous Ripon Theatre Festivals\, return with their brand new street theatre puppet show. Kismat Walla captures the bustling atmosphere of South Asian market streets in this two-person play set on and around a magical rairi (cart) telling a puppet plays about fate\, fortune and serendipity. \n  \n  \nAbout the performers:\nThingumajig Theatre creates and performs innovative puppet plays and interactive giant puppet street acts. Based in West Yorkshire\, their puppets have played throughout the UK and 17 other countries and have been seen on television and a major Disney film. \nThingumajig’s co-directors Kathy and Andrew Kim met while working as performers on a Horse and Bamboo production in 2002. After several years commuting across the Atlantic to visit each other\, they married and settled in West Yorkshire and started Thingumajig Theatre in 2006.
