Calling all Teachers – Schools’ Programme announced!

Shakespeare, Dance and Opera for schools

Our schools’ offer expands this year to include exceptional opportunities for secondary schools alongside accessible and colourful shows and workshops for primary and specialist schools.

Pupils from KS1-KS4 will engage with the curriculum in new and exciting ways, making the most of companies and artists visiting the Festival and their lively education programmes.

We’re delighted to welcome the renowned Opera North to Ripon with an enchanting musical adventure inspired by Mozart’s opera The Magic Flute. Little Listeners – Mini Magic Flute follows a Prince’s search for a Princess, but nothing is quite as it first appears… A fabulous opportunity for KS1 pupils to have their first taste of professional opera!

For the first time we’ll feature Mind The Gap Theatre. Learning disabled artist, JoAnne Harris will present Dancing with Colours; an interactive, enchanting dance piece that invites pupils from specialist schools to get involved. Expect colour, fun, paint and a little mess!

As well as high-quality performance, we also have in-school workshops for KS2, 3 & 4 pupils.  The Rubbish Shakespeare Company will be bringing the curriculum to life with engaging and high-energy sessions for all abilities.  Their mission is to make Shakespeare for All!

And for those pupils who just can’t get enough of the Bard then there’ll be the chance to see The Rubbish Shakespeare Company in action on the final day of the festival performing their own outdoor “rubbish” version of Romeo & Juliet … Suitable for all ages and FREE to attend!

The Schools’ Programme runs Tuesday 7 – Fri 10 July.

Teachers are encouraged to visit https://www.ripontheatrefestival.org/schools/ and register their interest. Full information about all schools’ activities can be found here. Please spread the word!
