“Peelers, Poachers and Paupers” – An Immersive Theatre Experience Like No Other

Ripon Museums Trust, in collaboration with Ripon Theatre Festival, is thrilled to announce a powerful new immersive theatre experience, Peelers, Poachers and Paupers, set to captivate audiences across the city this summer.

This original promenade production will take place across all three historic museum sites, transporting visitors back to Victorian Ripon through compelling storytelling, live music, and evocative drama. Based on the extraordinary true story of the Sinkler brothers of Pateley Bridge – transported to Australia and eventually returned home – the production explores powerful themes of crime, punishment, poverty and resilience between the years 1830 and 1872.

Audiences will journey through real-life locations where these events unfolded, as the museums become living stages for a story rooted in Yorkshire’s own past.

A Unique Creative Collaboration

Directed by professional actor and writer Mark Cronfield of Fell Foss Theatre, and brought to life by the Workhouse Theatre Group with support from professional performers, the production will offer two performance blocks each day.
