35 years ago, Ripon resident, Margaret Prince was asked by a librarian friend to produce some hand puppets for a story-time project.
The theme was to be ‘The House that Jack Built’ and so she made puppets from scrap materials and a backdrop with opening windows and doors for the puppets to pop through.
Years passed before the puppet show was resurrected for young nursery children and a special needs group.

Now the puppets and their charming house have been brought back to life by Hazelsong Theatre.
They’ve been given a facelift and a new script, ready for another generation of children to enjoy, beginning with our audience on Saturday morning at The Unicorn Hotel.
Thank you for preserving them, Margaret!
