The Old Deanery opens its gates for our Jane Austen Classic

The smartest venue in the city is set to host one of our key events this summer. On 8 June, the gardens of The Old Deanery will provide the perfect backdrop to Jane Austen’s Regency romp, Sense and Sensibility.

We are delighted to welcome Ripon’s exclusive-use events venue as the newest addition to our list of locations.  Our thanks go to owners Chris and Rebecca for opening the gates to us.

The joyous and satirical literary classic is presented by Heartbreak Productions, celebrating 30 years of the very best open air theatre.

If you wish to join us in mingling with the beau monde, tickets go on sale on Saturday 4 March.

With romance and marriage at heart of Austen’s classic, there couldn’t be a better site for this classic production.

The Old Deanery is an independently owned wedding and events venue, run by experts at organising special days.

Behind the Jacobean mansion in the shadow of the Cathedral, the gardens with their stunning weeping willow trees will provide a magical setting for the 2023 festival’s first open-air event.

The audience will be transported to the social whirl of a Matchmaker’s Ball where they will follow the ups and downs of sisters Elinor and Marianne Dashwood, each seeking to meet an honourable man of good fortune.

There couldn’t be a more perfect way to spend a  summer’s evening….
